Houston County Superintendent of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøs to Retire in May 2025
Board of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Seeks Community Input During Search Process
Dr. Mark Scott, Superintendent of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøs for the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø District, will retire at the end of the 2024-2025 school year. Dr. Scott announced his plans to retire at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø District’s Opening Session held in July.
The Houston County Board of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is now tasked with finding someone who aligns with the District’s vision and goals to serve as the next Superintendent of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøs. Applications from qualified candidates will be accepted from September 13 to September 27. As part of the selection process, the Board will also seek input from the community and from school district employees through a survey that will be available September 16-20. The survey will gather input from key stakeholders on the qualities they want to see from the next Superintendent of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøs. The Board encourages all community members to complete the survey.

Flu Vaccine Offered for Houston County ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøs & Employees
The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø District has partnered with the Houston County Health Department for the 16th year to offer free flu vaccines to students and employees. The flu shot is being offered at 42 sites between October 15 and November 14. In order for students to receive the vaccine at school, parents are required to complete an online consent form by September 20.

Lindsey ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Support Center Offers Monthly Clinic Days
The and the Georgia Department of Public Health - North Central Health District are partnering to bring telehealth appointments to the families in Houston County. Appointments are available on a first come, first served basis.
“We are so excited to be able to partner with the North Central Health District for another project that will benefit our students and their families,” said Dr. Dana Wiggins, Assistant Superintendent of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Services for the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø District. “We know that having access to quality healthcare locally can make a big difference for our students. By offering these at the Lindsey Center, parents will have the opportunity for their child to be seen by a medical professional in a setting that is friendly and familiar. We are grateful for the partnership and know it will positively impact the families in our community.”
